摘要：

2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the publication of a central volume for Latin American and global historiography: Modos de Produccion en America Latina (Modes of Production in Latin America). Published within the framework of the Cuadernos de Pasado y Presente, it is a fundamental text for understanding the course of historical materialism in the 1970s. In this article we propose a review of its place in historiography through its historical contextualisation and an analysis of the links between history and politics.
