摘要
Limited research has been conducted on the adsorption behavior of nanoplastics onto manganese oxides with varying morphologies. In this study, four different morphologies of manganese oxides (gamma/alpha/13/e-phase MnO2) were prepared to explore the relationship between the morphology of manganese oxides and the adsorption efficiency of polystyrene nanoplastics (PSNP) aged by xenon lamp irradiation. The exceptional adsorption capacity exhibited by minerals towards aged PSNP may be attributed to electrostatic attraction. The order in which materials exhibit adsorption capacities is as follows: gamma-MnO2 > alpha-MnO2 > 13-MnO2 > e-MnO2. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy reveal a correlation between changes in oxygen-containing functional groups and the sequence in which aged PSNP are adsorbed onto minerals. This study provides valuable insights for further development of manganese oxides with diverse morphologies and an objective assessment of the ecological impact posed by nanoplastics.
