Wound treatment with local negative pressure therapy/vacuum therapy

Durch die lokale Erzeugung eines Unterdrucks und kontinuierliche Exsudatdrainage konnen ein interstitielles odem und die Bakterienbesiedlung vermindert sowie die Perfusion und Oxygenierung der Wunde verbessert werden. Die Vakuumtherapie eignet sich besonders fur stark exsudierende und kontaminierte Wunden, das Ulcus diabeticorum und Ulcus cruris venosum bzw. mixtum, Dekubitalulzerationen, temporare Wundverschlusse sowie zur Fixierung von Spalthauttransplantationen. Abstract Vacuum therapy is an important element of modern wound therapy for the treatment of acute as well as chronic wounds. The local generation of negative pressure and continuous exudate drainage can reduce interstitial edema and bacterial colonization and improve perfusion and oxygenation of the wound. Vacuum therapy is particularly suitable for heavily exuding and contaminated wounds, diabetic ulcers, venous or mixed leg ulcers, decubitus ulcers, temporary wound closures and for the fixation of mesh grafts.
