Left External Jugular Vein Thrombosis. About a case

Cerebral venous thrombosis (cvt) represents only 0.5-1% of cerebral vascular pathology; among the aspects that differentiate it from arterial pathology, its predominance in younger people and in the female sex stands out.We present the case of a 21-year-old patient who, four months after delivery, was admitted to the neurology department with a hemiparetic motor neurological syndrome. Imaging studies were performed, confirming thrombosis of the left external jugular vein. The patient received anticoagulant treatment, she evolved favorably, with notable improvement in the clinical picture; at the time of her hospital discharge, she had left hemiparesis as neurological sequelae, which she scored on the modified rankin scale (mrs): as rankin 1: minimal disability with independence.This infrequent presenting entity should be suspected in patients with associated risk factors; the evolution will depend to a large extent on the diagnosis and opportune treatment.
