The structure of the cenacle: Intellectual networks before Latin American literature

The following article analyzes the current state of the intellectual networks approach, especially its intersection with Latin American literary studies. The article discusses the so-called stability and interdisciplinarity of this field, suggesting an essential corpus when it comes to literary sociability structures. Moreover, the article critically reviews some of the present topics, discussions, and restrictions of this theoretical framework, in addition to other methodological and conceptual ambiguities, which demonstrate that this is still a field in progress. Finally, it states new ideas regarding intellectual networks perspective, which can lead to promoting interdisciplinary development of the field, expanding the advantages and achievements of this approach to Latin American literature studies.
