摘要
Since two decades, various Latin American academic investigations have used the gentrification theory and recently the financialization theory. Those theories try to explain the urban restructuring derived from public policies and private investment in central and peripheral urban areas, which are deepening the socioeconomic and socio-spatial inequalities. This article analyzes the gentrification studies, which have transited to financialization studies on urban development in Mexico City. It is reviewed the dispute over the concept of gentrification, between those who have rejected a & DLANGBRAC;foreign & drangbrac; concept and those who used it to denounce the dispossession of their neighborhoods. In these debates, Garcia-Herrera's contributions were a fundamental and illuminating reference. Next, is analyzed the financialization of urban development and are present two of the most significant social resistances against gentrification and the financialization of urban development in the Mexican capital. The text takes up evidence from past and an ongoing investigation.
