摘要
Aims. - The maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) has generally been considered the method for evaluating aerobic capacity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of the 20 m shuttle run test and develop accurate and practical predictive models for the VO2max in Korean adults. Methods. - A total of 549 (287 males, 262 females) healthy adults participated in this study. Their age ranged from 19 to 64. VO2max was measured using the maximal-graded treadmill test. Regression analysis was performed to develop the VO2max prediction equation using the 20 m shuttle run test (20MSRT). Results. - The following equation was developed: (R-2 = 0.730; SEE = 3.620): VO2max = 37.068 + 2.715 (sex; male 1, female 0) -0.041 (Age) + 0.259 (reps of 20 m shut-tle run) -0.349 (BMI). The intra-class correlation coefficient between the measured VO2max and the predicted VO2max was 0.909 (P < 0.001). Conclusions. - The predictive models included four variables as significant predictors of VO2max and had acceptable accuracy in a large sample of adults. (c) 2022 Elsevier Masson SAS.
