摘要：

This article sought to delimit a theoretical framework about the concept of citizenship, with emphasis on the importance of education for its realization. The methodology used was the bibliographic review of books and scientific articles selected from the research carried out on the Goggle Academic website and the Scielo journal portal. At the end of this article, it was identified that education is fundamental for the construction of the citizen, since it makes the individual capable of consciously exercising the rights brought in the laws of the country.
