摘要：

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a collection of symptoms and signs caused by compression of the median nerve as it trav -els through the carpal tunnel. Symptoms include paresthesia and/or numbness in the median nerve distribution, aching in the thenar eminence, and weakness at later stages. CTS is the most common entrapment neuropathy with a prevalence of 1-5%, and even higher among females, manual workers, and the elderly. Therefore, many patients with signs and symp-toms of CTS refer to their primary care physician who should recognize, diagnose, and provide initial treatment. 1MAJ 2023; 25: 507-510
