摘要：

This article deals with dilemma situations that are typical for a profession. First, it is explained how dealing with dilemmas can be helpful for professional practice. Second, dilemma is defined in general and professional dilemma in particular. Professional dilemmas of the library profession are outlined, from the areas of management, pedagogy, and some that arise from the specific values of the library profession itself. At the end, there are hints on how to deal in practice with dilemmas that are - in fact - irresolvable. Schulz von Thun's "Wertequadrat" is used as an instrument for the visualization and analysis of dilemmas.
