摘要
The incredible development and widely-demonstrated efficacy of the mRNA-based Covid-19 vaccine has also raised awareness that this vaccination method could be effective and beneficial in areas other than infectious diseases, particularly as a new therapeutic approach for cancer. Immunotherapy, which has now become a standard treatment for many types of cancer and has highlighted the importance of activating the immune system to combat cancer cells, could be expanded in the coming months or years by this new therapeutic option based on the use of mRNA as a vaccine targeting tumour antigens, ideally adapted to the mutational profile of the tumour. Many trials have already been published or are ongoing, demonstrating not only a perfectly acceptable safety profile for this cancer vaccine approach, but also offering new hope for effective cancer treatments.
