Controlled synthesis of CuS with different morphology and pollution control of Hg0 in non-ferrous smelting flue gas

摘要
Mercury, a heavy metal, seriously threatens the natural environment and human health. This work synthesized a series of CuS materials by controlling the crystals growth time, growth rate and direction, using for Hg0 removal. XRD, BET, SEM, TGA, XPS, etc characterized these materials. It can be found that CuS-2h had lower crystallinity and rougher surface compared to other materials. The appropriate crystallinity make CuS exposed more active sites and defects. The performance and reaction mechanism of removing Hg0 of CuS materials with different morphologies were systematically studied. The results showed that CuS-2h materials reacted had excellent mercury removal efficiency in the temperature of 50 degrees C-125 degrees C, and had excellent anti-toxicity to SO2. The advantages of this material can be attributed to the fact that copper can expose more active sites to sulfur-based materials. The active components of CuS-2h with higher oxidation potential, S22-, was conducive to electron transfer and can promote the oxidative adsorption of mercury.
