摘要
The transmission line parameters such as the phase angle, impedance and the voltage of transmission/distribution network is influenced at a faster rate with the use of FACTS devices. These devices can be used in the distribution/transmission network in shunt (parallel) - as static compensator or STATCOM and in series as series compensator or SSSC and others such as the Unified Power Controller (UPFC). The advantages of FACTS devices include increase in the stability of the network, improvement of power quality and lower generation cost. When there is a fault in the system, the demand of Q (reactive power) from the system is high in order to compensate the fault, therefore bringing the system back to stable condition. In this work the simulation results of a IEEE-14 bus network is investigated for its reactive power compensation with use of FACTS devices. A comparison showing the graphical representation of the V & I are also discussed with the application of DSTATCOM and without it.
