摘要
high temperature oxidation behavior of NbMoTaWV refractory high entropy alloy (RHEA)preparedbyarcmeltingwasstudiedbystaticoxidationexperiment,XRDandFSEM.The resultsrevealthattheNbMoTaWV RHEAisnotprotectiveduetoseverecracksintheoxidelayerat 1000 degrees C and1200 degrees C.Themassgainfollowsalinearoxidationlaw.Moltenoxidesformedat1400 degrees C, whichreleasethegrowthstressoftheoxidelayerandfilltheholesleftbythevolatilizationofMoand V oxides.IntheoxidationprocessofNbMoTaWV,oxygendiffusesintothe matrixandfirstoxidizes with NbandTainthediffusionlayertogenerateneedle-rodlikeoxidationproducts,andthenoxidizes withotheralloyelements.Inthesubsequentoxidationprocess,theoxidesof W aredissolvedin Nb and Taoxides,whilethegranularmixedoxidesof Moand V volatilizeathightemperatures.
