摘要：

People with diabetes suffer disproportionately often from cardiovascular diseases. Complex metabolic changes and increased release of inflammatory cytokines from the adipose tissue also contribute to this. Not least because of cardiovascular diseases, there is at least a double risk of premature death compared to people without diabetes, and life expectancy is on average about five to six years shorter. A reduction in cardiovascular risk factors is essential to improve the prognosis of people with diabetes.
