摘要
The chemistry of quinolones, representing one of the major classes of nitrogen-containing heterocyclics, has received more attention and considered one of the promising heterocyclics by organic and medicinal chemists. Globally, consistent efforts are being made by the scientific community to shift towards green chemistry at each phase of drug development thus making the processes more sustainable. In this respect, this review summarizes the results of the splendid array of eco-friendly procedures of synthesis of quinolone derivatives and their biological activities employed in the last 15 years. An effort has been made to uncover biological properties and their correlation with structure-activity relationships and molecular docking, which provide deeper insights into rational drug development.
