摘要
Esophageal motility disorders can occur at any age. The leading symptoms aredysphagia, regurgitation, and thoracic pain. Careful patient history followed bya selection of specific diagnostic examinations leads to reliable diagnosis and enablescorresponding treatment. High-resolution manometry (HRM), video cinematography, endoluminal functional lumen imaging probe (EndoFlip), and 24-hour esophagealmanometry (also in combination with impedance measurement) enable furtherdifferentiation of hyper- and hypocontractile dysfunction. This article providesan overview of diagnostic tools, disease manifestation, and treatment options inesophageal motility disorders.
