摘要
MiR-483, insulin-like growth factor 2 gene-derived microRNAs (miRNA), play an important role in the pathogenesis of several diseases in different organs. Serum and tissue levels of miR-483 were proposed as a biomarker for differential diagnosis, prognosis, disease outcome and survival prediction biomarker. Some studies tried to discriminate the function of miR-483 from the function of its host gene, insulin growth factor-2 (IGF-2), and discussed the complex regulation of this transcriptional product. MiR-483 targets the genes in a tissue and organspecific manner. According to the target cell type, miR-483 can induce cell proliferation, cell death, apoptosis, and cell differentiation. In several pathologic conditions, miR-483 levels are up- or down-regulated including cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and neurologic disorders, gynecological disorders and gastrointestinal system. Metabolic disorders and bone metabolism are the other conditions in which miR-483 is involved. In this review, we discuss the miR-483 structure and its clinical importance in the diseases organ by organ.
