Optimizing feature based image alignment for surface deformation measurements

摘要
A novel method for efficient and reliable detection of surface features on weakly structured surfaces is presented. This method enables the analysis of surface deformations without the need for extensive sample preparation. Our simplified workflow, which eliminates the need for preparation, focuses on feature filtering to produce reliable transformations between different surface configurations. The versatility and robustness of this approach is demonstrated by a series of surface tests under different loads that provide consistent results. This method shows promise for a wide range of applications in surface feature detection and comprehensive deformation analysis, and provides a practical tool for the precise investigation of weakly textured surfaces.
