Assertive Communication for Collaborative Purposes in the University Context

摘要
The article aimed to describe the importance of assertive communication to improve collaborative work. The study had a quantitative approach, the type of research was basic and descriptive; the non-experimental and cross-sectional design. The survey technique allowed the collection of data on assertive communication and the characteristics of the collaborative work of the students. The instrument was a questionnaire composed of 38 items on the Likert scale; the population consisted of 243 students, and a sample of 149 from the Initial Education career of a private university in Guayaquil, Ecuador; with a stratified probabilistic sampling. For data processing, the SPSS statistical program was used, which allowed the elaboration of frequency tables and data analysis. The results show that students need to improve assertive communication in order to work collaboratively.
