摘要
While overall outcomes for cancer care have improved considerably in the United States over the past century, as evidenced by decreases in incidence and mortality of certain cancers, inequities in access, affordability, outcomes and the overall burden of cancer persist for many populations. At the individual and community levels, socioeconomic status, race and ethnicity, language, gender identity and sexual orientation, disability status, and rural place of residence, to name but a few, contribute to inequities for those faced with the disease. Such gaps in care are present across the globe, but there is a specific historical context that shapes the inequity of health status,
