摘要：
The care of people with diabetes mellitus is one of the most important tasks of our health care system due to the large number of people affected and the often serious consequences of inadequate treatment. Many recognised studies and also disease management programmes (DMP) implemented in Germany since 2002 have shown that much suffering and-in the medium/long term-costs can be avoided by means of comprehensive, qualified and structured care.
