Accelerated Life Test Acceptance Sampling Plans for the Weibull Distribution with Constant Acceleration using EWMA and Modified EWMA Statistics

Products or systems with high reliability and durability require more time for inspection as it is difficult to detect failures under normal operating conditions. In literature, accelerated life testing methods are discussed to accelerate the decision, in which products are tested under severe than normal stress conditions with failure mechanisms similar to the one observed in the field. The most commonly applied stressis constant stress. We propose life test sampling plans for establishing a quantile life for the Weibull distribution under a constant acceleration factor. As the accelerated life test plans require more sample size than those without acceleration, the previous history has been used as per EWMA and Modified EWMA schemes to make them somewhat economical. Tables of optimal design parameters are presented for three different acceleration constants for establishing a Weibull median life. Published real-life data sets are used to demonstrate the proposed life test sampling plans.
