摘要
Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) has adopted an outcomes-based education and student-centered learning paradigm. This approach encourages students to take an active role in their education by participating in group projects. Furthermore, it is used to fulfill o ne o f t he s tudent outcomes regarding the student's ability to work in a collaborative and inclusive environment. To address this, Undergraduate Programs in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management and Product Design agree to collaborate on multidisciplinary capstone design projects. In this collaboration, the students should create teams that consist of students from two or more Undergraduate Programs. Since 2021, 161 students have participated in the multidisciplinary capstone design project. Several topics are introduced, such as Needle Tip Burner, Vaccine Last-mile Transporter, UV Sterilization, Plastic Syringe Shredder, Ergonomics Chair, Smart Vest Rescue, Baby Weighing Scale with Length Measuring, Baby Incubator, Mask Shredder and Smart Commode Chair. The end-semester questionnaire is used to measure the students' perception of the project implementation. The results for 2021 & 2022 implementation are as follows: Course outcomes: 3.18 & 3.26, Course implementation: 3.15 & 3.51, Students experience: 3.29 & 3.54. Through the multidisciplinary project, students have an opportunity to learn from their peers with different areas of expertise, develop their problem-solving skills, and experience collaboration in a team setting. The implementation of multidisciplinary course projects needs clear goals and objectives. It also requires providing students with the necessary resources, guidance and support to complete the project successfully. Furthermore, the instructor from the practitioner has a good impact on the project.
