摘要
Honeymoon phase or PR phase occurs through a combination of metabolic factors, such as reduction in glucotoxicity, j3-cell rest, reduction in insulin resistance, and immunologic phenomena, such as development of immunologic tolerance, j3-cell regeneration, and waxing and waning autoimmunity. Because autoimmune destruc-tion of j3 cells is the fundamental pathophysiology behind development of T1D, the honeymoon phase provides a unique opportunity to study the autoimmune process in detail. Studies are underway to prolong the honeymoon phase and to reverse the autoimmune process.
