Family perception of nurses' care for children hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit

The objective of this study was to analyze the perception of the family member about the humanized care provided by nursing to children hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Research with a quantitative approach, descriptive type of field design, non -experimental of a cross-sectional type, in which 10 relatives and/or representatives of patients admitted to the intensive care unit were taken as a population, in a period of time comprised of 1 month. To this population, with prior informed consent, the questionnaire was applied: Family perception of the humanized care provided by nursing to Hospitalized Patients. The results were that the entire study population feels that the caring nurse gives them hope (a way of feeling better), and a high percentage perceives that they always receive friendly treatment from the nurse, always asking them if the nurse is puts in place when they or a hospitalized family member express what they feel within the context that the nurse integrates spiritual practices of the transpersonal self beyond the ego, the care provided by the nurse is organized and knowledge -based, and the nurse favors o Allows them to express their feelings, they have been informed or educated regarding the care provided to the child. They perceive that the nurse always works to meet the child's physical needs and a low percentage feel that they have a close relationship with the nurse. This it reflects the authentic relationship of care, support -trust provided by nurses that is perceived as scarce. It is concluded that the nursing staff studied, through the perception of the family member regarding the humanized care provided to pediatric patients, complies in a really considerable way with the integration of humanized care in the intensive care unit.
