摘要
Folk medicine from many regions of the world is linked to the use of medicinal plants to cure of many illnesses. Research into antibacterial chemicals found in plants has been sparked by the growth of bacterial resistance to existing antibiotics and the rising popularity of conventional treatment. A medicinal plant known as curcuma longa belongs to the Zingiberaceae family botanically. Curcuma longa, sometimes referred to as "turmeric," is frequently used as a spice, a coloring agent, and for its therapeutic benefits. Determination of the antimicrobial action of the aqueous extract of the turmeric rhizome that has the effect of inhibit the growth of bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were chosen as the three pathogenic microbes to test turmeric extract's antibacterial efficacy against. Both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria are inhibited by curcumin's ability to thrive. And Escherichia coli exhibited the highest inhibitory impact. Based on these findings, we can say that curcuma extract demonstrated antibacterial action against all of the tested microorganisms, with Escherichia coli having the highest inhibitory effect. The varying levels of sensitivity of the bacterial test organisms may be related to the inherent tolerance of microorganisms and cell wall structure.
