摘要
Bolstered by recent advances in bioinformatics, genetics,and enzymeengineering, the field of chemoenzymatic synthesis has enjoyed a rapidincrease in popularity and utility. This Perspective explores theintegration of enzymes into multistep chemical syntheses, highlightingthe unique potential of biocatalytic transformations to streamlinethe synthesis of complex natural products. In particular, we identifyfour primary conceptual approaches to chemoenzymatic synthesis andillustrate each with a number of landmark case studies. Future opportunitiesand challenges are also discussed.
