摘要：

A patient presented with empyema which grew Actinomyces israelii on culture. Due to penicillin allergy, the patient was treated to good effect with ceftriaxone along with chest drain insertion. Pulmonary actinomycosis is a rare but serious infection with associated morbidity and mortality. In this case report, it is discussed how timely intervention and appropriate antibiotic therapy can improve outcomes.
