The Origin of the Logic of the Gift and the Counter-Intentionality in the Phenomenology of Jean-Luc Marion

Marion's phenomenology of givenness rises up trying to combine descriptive phenomenology with hermeneutics. In this attempt have been recognized methodological difficulties, especially epistemic ones. Here we give a detailed account of their origin, ramification throughout Marion's main works, following a critical perspective, inspired in Levinas, that claims intuition as inseparable from meaning and its correlation going beyond a cognitive adecuationist path, like that still admitted by counter-intentionality that defines saturated phenomena.
