摘要
Coke is the only raw material that descends into the lower part of the blast furnace (BF) in its original form; therefore, it is of utmost importance to improve the coke properties for its use in BF operation. Over decades of operation, various advances have been made in the cokemaking process, and various advanced sensors have been employed that are useful for revealing process insights that are used for the development of process models for the carbonization process. In the present work, an attempt is made to review the various approaches adopted to achieve desirable coke properties. Furthermore, the comparison of the processes and their challenges are explained in detail, which led to the deterioration of coke. The various attempts to determine the end of the carbonization cycle and its importance in improving coke quality have been explained in detail. Furthermore, recommendations are made to improve the cokemaking process, and process models are focused on improving coke quality. Finally, the future of the coke-making process to reduce CO2 emissions to meet global environmental regulations is briefly summarized.
