Thyroid disease is associated with adverse outcomes in pregnant women. The physiological changes in the thyroid function complicate its evaluation. There is still an ongoing debate on whether to screen all pregnant women and those planning to become pregnant for thyroid dysfunction. Different studies on whom to test and when to treat without reaching a definitive answer. This work reviews thyroid function during pregnancy, focusing on the arguments for and against universal or targeted screening.@2023 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
