摘要
Recently, Sahib et al. (2023) revealed that intolerance of uncertainty is associated with different emotion regulation strategies. While this article provides a crucial step in synthesising past research, it still remains unknown as to whether intolerance of uncertainty is specifically associated with different emotion regulation strategies, compared to other fundamental lower- and higher-order transdiagnostic dimensions. Addressing this scientific line of enquiry is non-trivial because it may highlight precisely what lower- and higher-order transdiagnostic dimensions are associated with different emotion regulation strategies, leading to important gains in developing transdiagnostic models and therapeutic interventions for emotional disorders. The following perspective critically examines and contextualises the findings from the Sahib et al. (2023) article in relation to current empirical research on intolerance of uncertainty and the hierarchical structure of transdiagnostic dimensions underlying emotional disorders. Furthermore, the perspective outlines potential barriers, solutions, and implications for future research attempting to examine how intolerance of uncertainty, other lower- and higherorder transdiagnostic dimensions, and emotion regulation strategies operate.
