The teacher training in distance education: tensions and challenges

摘要
Information and communication technologies have been increasingly used in educational institutions in contemporary society. The distance education (DE), enjoys such devices for application in the teaching modality. However, there are several challenges in its implementati on and use. The present text discusses the results of a bibliographic research, qualitative in nature, with the application of a questionnaire to coordinators and students of the Center for Higher Education at a Distance (CESAD) of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS). The theoretical foundation and sources are particularly supported by authors such as Freire (1996), Vasconcelos (2017), Romao (2020) and Census of Higher Education 2019. The results found demonstrate that: distance education resizes the geographical space. Despite the existing barriers distance learning comes as a contemporary alterative for many who have the right to access higher educati on. Flexibility of planning and individual organizati on of students in the exercise of autonomy are positive principles. Thus, it is necessary to carry out studies of this nature to understand and disclose the limits and possibilities of DL for hundreds of students who have in this modality their only chance to evolve in their studies.
