摘要
"Primitive Future" the last track on the album Beneath the Remains (1989) by the Brazilian band Sepultura, debuted the group's global circulation and consequent commercial success. Musically, the song is focused on the pulse and horizontal motifs (riffs) that are developed in a fast tempo. Furthermore, it does not have a defined tonal center, thus creating a tense atmosphere through consonances and dissonances. The same happens with the lyric that describes a post-apocalyptic future. Therefore, it is questioned here which historical conditions allowed the production and circulation of a pessimistic song concerning the future. It examines, in particular, the rise of neoliberalism and presentism in parallel with the constitution of capitalist realism and performance as a social imperative in a globalized context.
