摘要
BACKGROUND: Research reveals the negative effects of COVID-19 infection on mental health. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of PTSD in nurses during the COVID-19 epidemic. METHODS: This research is a cross-sectional, descriptive-correlational study. Convenience sampling was used. Data were collected by two questionnaires: demographic information questionnaire, and PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5).RESULTS: Two hundred forty-nine questionnaires were analyzed. The prevalence of PTSD symptoms was 83.3%. Also, the mean PTSD score in nurses was 51.13 with a standard deviation of 15.19. The Odds Ratio calculation also indicated that the chances of developing PTSD in front-line nurses were 3.3 times higher than other nurses (OR=3.3, 95% CI: 1.23-8.80).CONCLUSIONS: PTSD symptoms were significantly high in nurses. The prevalence of PTSD in frontline nurses was significantly higher than other nurses.
