Removal of SP Noise Using Decision Based Adaptive Double Median Filter for Synthetic Aperture Radar Images

摘要
Noise present in satellite images influence the visual quality of the image and make other resulting subsequent image processing techniques more difficult. Removal of salt and pepper noise from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images is an essential issue in the discipline of SAR image analysis. There are specific noise-reducing methodologies developed to switch the salt and pepper noisy pixels in SAR images. The fundamental objective of this paper is the expulsion of salt and pepper noisy pixels with the information pixel to conserve the boundary and surface detail of the SAR image using Decision Based Adaptive Double Median Filter (DBADMF) method. This method compared with distinctive existing methods, which include Mean Filter, Median Filter (MF), Adaptive Median Filter (AMF), and Decision Based Median Filter (DBMF). This method viably decreases the salt and pepper noise at all densities with better Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM). The proposed method yields the filtered images with the PSNR in the range of 35% and SSIM of 99%.
