摘要
The approval of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) in 2017, guides the adoption of the English as a lingua franca (ELF) approach, thus breaking with the traditional teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL). From this new teaching perspective, it is possible to empirically identify some difficulties, for English language teachers in how to adjust their classes under the ELF approach with the textbooks as a guide. The objectives of this article were to show, in imported textbooks, evidence that point to the teaching of ELF and also the marks of a traditional teaching of English and reflect upon student-teacher practices, aiming at building up a teaching approach that embraces diversity and provides a more inclusive teaching paradigm.
