Structural, Electrical and Magnetic Properties of Low Dimensional Pr-Doped Co-Zn Ferrite Nanoparticles

In recent years multiferroic materials have gained importance due to their multifunctional properties and their tremendous applications in technological field. We undertook the study of transition metal ion doped AB(2)O(4) low dimensional multiferroic materials. Here we synthesized the Pr doped CoZnFe2O4 (CZFO) with general formula Co0.5Zn0.5-xPrxFe2O4 (x = 0.00, 0.01,0.02,0.03,0.04,0.05) (CZPFO) by modified auto combustion method with Citric acid as a fuel and detailed room temperature Structural, Electrical and Magnetic properties were investigated. Room temperature XRD patterns shows cubic structure Fd-3 m space group, without any impurities. Rietveld refinement carried out to extract the lattice parameters, cell volume and bond distance. VESTA programming used to obtain polyhedral structure for all the samples. The average crystalline size of the CZPFO sample is around 5-10 nm. The room temperature M-H loop implies the ferromagnetic nature with reduction of magnetic saturation. For morphological analysis the field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) notice the large, densely and contiguously populated microstructure along with some agglomeration type of particle texture. EDAX confirms the chemical stoichiometry composition. Room temperature frequency dependence of the dielectric properties showed a major effect of the grain and grain boundary. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of all the samples decreased sharply with increasing frequency. This is referred to as the Maxwell-Wagner type of polarization in accordance with Koop's theory. The Cole-Cole plot from impedance spectra reveals Debye type of relaxation. Modulus analysis reveals the presence of conduction phenomenon with decreasing the both real and imaginary parts of relative permeability with respect to frequency.
