One dimensional photonic crystal structure comprising a hyperbolic metamaterial for optical filtering purpose

摘要
In this research, we have theoretically introduced a model structure of one-dimensional photonic crystals to act as a multichannel optical filter. The suggested design is composed of a periodic alteration of hyperbolic metamaterial (HMM) and SiO2 layers. The HMM is composed of a combination of Si and Ag layers. Meanwhile, our design is configured as [(Si/Ag)(SiO2)-Si-N](S). The theoretical treatment is substantially demonstrated in the vicinity of the characteristic matrix method, effective medium theory, and the Drude model. The numerical findings have demonstrated the effects of the periodicity numbers (N and S), the thicknesses of the Ag and Si layers, and the refractive index of SiO2 on the structure filtering properties. In this regard, the numerical findings clarify that the periodicity number of the HMM is a crucial parameter in introducing a specified number of filter channels. Our designed structure may help in the enhancement of photonic and optical applications such as a multichannel filter, particularly via a wide range of visible light regions.
