Effect of SiO2/TiO2 ratio on the crystallization behavior of CaO-TiO2-SiO2 glass-ceramic system for opaque white glaze

摘要
The crystallization behavior of the CaO-TiO2-SiO2 glass-ceramic system was analyzed based on the amount of TiO2 substituted, and its applicability as an opaque white glaze was determined. The XRD analysis revealed the presence of titanite and wollastonite-based crystalline phases in the glass-ceramic. The non-isothermal analysis using DTA showed surface crystallization behavior in TP1 (titanite) and internal crystallization behavior TP2 (wollastonite) as the amount of TiO2 substitution increased. After manufacturing the frit for glaze, the crystallinity increased as the heat-treatment temperature increased, and the dendritic (titanite) and elliptical (wollastonite) crystalline phases were observed through SEM and EDS analysis. The frit showed a high whiteness of over 93.75 regardless of the heat-treatment temperature and the glossiness decreased and a matt appearance as the TiO2 content increased.
