On the requirements of the Philosophy of Law as a task of practical reasoning

The Anuario de Filosofia del Derecho is a significant example of the vitality of our discipline. The revision of the dominant iusnaturalistic dogmatism and the legal positivism that gave it a response has allowed the incorporation of studies in the field of legal reasoning that have contributed to conceive Law as an argumentative practice. In this sense, interpretation is essential in the work of every jurist. Our fundamental purpose is to seek and offer useful solutions to social problems. Being a good professional in this field requires giving a voice to those who do not have one and to contribute to the guarantee of human rights, to the right to have rights. Philosophical-legal reflection understood in terms of practical reason is facing new challenges, three of which are analyzed in greater detail: the global threat to life on the planet, the extension of the demands of justice to other non-human beings, and the revision of a model of migration management that paradoxically reduces the legal, safe and orderly ways for the entry and reception of displaced persons as the causes that force such human mobility increase.
