When Chinese textile players were praying for good fortune in the midnight lit with splendor of firecrackers to welcome in the new year of 2005 - the mark of quota-free era. They had never expected this freedom was not free, and even more costly than anticipated with hot trade disputes, frequently changing policy face-ups for export tax and the Yuan revaluation that struck many Chinese textile companies flat-footed.
