Five hundred Chinese children and government officials and UNICEF representatives gathered at the children’s center in Beijing on December 1986 to mark the 40th Anniversary of the United Nations Children’s Fund. The meeting was sponsored jointly by All-China Women’s Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade. Chinese President Li Xian-nian sent a message of congratulations to UNICEF.
