Experiments on animals showed that the rootextract Rb,total saponins of leaf and n-butylalcoholextracts of roots of Panax notoginseng inhibited themaximum contractile effect of Ca2+and shiftedthe concentration-response curves to the right in anon-parallel manner in pig coronary artery strips.Thecalcium antagonistic activity of the above-mentioneddrugs was expressed as PD’2=4,4.42,and 4.38 res-pectively.Relaxation induced by Rb depended on
