摘要：

Many properties of a lattice can be characterized by the existence of some kind of pentagons. In this paper, the relationship between a semimodular lattice and a modular lattice as well as a distributive lattice is discussed, which is based on a special pentagon. A characterization theorem of a semimodular lattice is given.
