1 Introduction The nuclear lamina present widely in animal cells consists of a proteinaceous meshwork subjacent to the inner nuclear membrane. Its thickness is about 30—100nm. As one of the constituents of the nuclear matrix-lamina-intermediate filament (IF) system, the nuclear lamina is structurally connected with nuclear pore complex. The nuclear lamina is believed to be crucial for many cellular activities. During the past decade, remarkable progress has been made in the study of the lamina of mammalian cells. Recent
