On the basis of the theory of turbulent diffusion and the assumption of the isotropy of turbulence, the paper analyses the concentration distributions both of the entrained air in the lower high-velocity water flow in a two-dimensional chute and of the entrained water in the upper co-existing air flow. While only integral forms are given for the starting stage of the entrainment, the analysis is carried out in detail for the stage of the entrainment in full development. The result obtained for the lower flow agrees closely with the experimental data given by Straub.
