The Relationship of Age Factor to Second Language Acquisition

The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship of age factor to second language acquisition and to explore if a critical period for L2 learners does exist. The literature review, presents different theories that contributed to the findings how does age factor relates to second language acquisition. After a text-to-text discussion, most of the evidences show that age factor negatively correlates the second language acquisition. But the factors relate to the age, such as the learning styles, the motivation to learn, individual differences and learning environment. All those variables are also important factors that will affect the rate of second language acquisition in various developmental stages of the learners.
