The MS fragmentation behaviors of semicarbazone and thiosemicarbazonewith different polar substituents R (R=N(CH),OH,H,F,Br,NO) under electron impact wereinvestigated in detail with the aid of exact mass measurements, metastable transition and theircorresponding deuterium labelling compounds. The results showed the abundance of molecularions, the formming way of base ions, the kinds and abundance as well as numbers of fragments aremainly dependent upon the inductive and conjugative effects of substituents R.These observationhas not previously been reported in the literature.Data concerning them are presented and discussedin the paper.
